Alvin Benjamin, President and Founder of the Benjamin Companies, started his organization on LI by building luxury apartments complexes which were required by the extensive growth of Nassau and Suffolk Counties in the late 1950’s and early ‘60s.

 Since then, Mr. Benjamin has expanded the companies development and construction activities throughout NYC, the metropolitan area and into the neighboring states of New Jersey and Pennsylvania.  The Benjamin Companies have developed, built and renovated over 25,000 apartments and homes with a combined development cost in excess of $300 million.  The companies have built thousands of square feet of office, professional buildings and extended care facilities as well as shopping centers on LI and New Jersey.  The firm currently has in the development stages almost 2,000 residential units with a projected cost in excess of $500 Million in locations in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.  The size of the company has increased over the past 30 years from a one man operation to over 2,250 employees with in-house staff expertise in planning, development, construction, management, sales and finance.
